
SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada are eligible to sponsor their spouse, partner, or dependent children to become permanent residents of Canada. To do so, you must be able to:

support them financially

make sure they don’t need social assistance from the government
There are two categories to choose from when sponsoring your significant other; you may decide to pursue an inland spousal sponsorship or an overseas spousal sponsorship.
HOW THIS PROGRAM WORKS
You can sponsor your spouse, partner, or dependent child if you:

Are at least 18 years old

Are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person registered under the Canadian Indian Act
-
Are not receiving social assistance (except for disability reasons)
-
Can financially support the sponsored person(s)
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

As a sponsor, you must commit to financially supporting the sponsored person(s) for a specific period (financial undertaking) and sign a sponsorship agreement outlining mutual responsibilities.

Completed application forms and required documents

Medical exam results
